Cancellation & Attendance Policy

I work with many clients who are parents, living with chronic illness or chronic pain, navigating serious medical conditions, facing end-of-life concerns, and managing mental health challenges. I understand that life is unpredictable. Even though sessions are virtual there will be times when appointments need to be canceled.

For that reason, I do not charge a cancellation or no-show fee.

At the same time, therapy is a professional service and a meaningful commitment. Missed appointments affect my ability to keep my practice sustainable, maintain availability for clients, and continue doing the work I care deeply about.

What I Ask

  • Please provide as much notice as you reasonably can if you need to cancel or reschedule.

  • Emergencies, illness, caregiving demands, and unexpected life events are understood.

When Missed Sessions Become a Pattern

If missed or late-canceled sessions become frequent, we will have a conversation to address this collaboratively. We will review whether continued treatment is clinically indicated and feasible at this time. This may include discussing:

  • Whether therapy should be paused or formally concluded

  • Whether referral to another level of care or provider may be more appropriate

  • Whether external circumstances currently limit the ability to participate in therapy in a clinically meaningful way

These decisions are made to ensure ethical care, clear clinical boundaries, and appropriate continuity of treatment.

Scope of Responsibility

I am able to provide care, monitoring, and support only during scheduled and attended sessions. I am not able to assess safety, risk, or clinical needs outside of sessions or during extended gaps in attendance.

If you experience increased distress, safety concerns, or urgent needs during a lapse in sessions, you are encouraged to seek immediate support through emergency services, crisis lines, or other appropriate resources.
