Brainspotting

brainspotting .jpg

Brainspotting is a powerful neuroexperiential/ brain based  therapy that uses focused eye positions and body awareness to access the brain’s natural processing systems. Because visual pathways are deeply connected with networks involved in memory, emotion, movement, and survival responses, this approach can help access and integrate traumatic experiences that may be stored implicitly in the nervous system rather than in words or conscious thought.

Many overwhelming experiences are stored as sensations, emotions, body states, and automatic survival patterns rather than clear narratives. Brainspotting works with these deeper neurobiological networks, allowing the brain and body to process and integrate experiences that may have remained “stuck” long after the original event has passed.

I have completed brainspotting training phases 1 and 2 as well as advanced workshops 3 and 4 wtih David Grand. I am always pursuing and have completed many  additional continuing trainings and various brainspotting intensive workshops in specific areas and learning advanced skills.

What it is for:

  • Childhood trauma

  • Anxiety

  • Chronic pain

  • Grief and loss

  • Emotional recovery

  • Insight and exploration

  • Insecurity

  • Perfectionism

  • Performance and Sports

  •  Stuck patterns and calirty

What It is very basically:

  • Where you look affects of you feel. We will find a spot for you to look (often using a pointer) at that feels right for your process.

  • You will be guided to notice body sensations, feelings and begin to process while bypassing the nuerocortex through the brainspot and accessing the nervouse system and deeper subcortical systems.

  • stuck trauma, memories and experiences begin to naturally process, integrate and/or release

  • There is no wrong way and no pressure, some people talk while processing. some people are silent. I am there to support you

  • Your mind and body know how to heal

  • You may feel waves of emotion, physical sensations or begin to experience insights or memories as things shift.
